I have been here over 2 weeks now. Since arriving, I have not only been training but also learning more about my teammates. There are 6 of us. As City Hosts, our weekly task is to be the bridge between church groups and local ministry sites. We will lead our own groups in prayer tours, debriefs, mealtimes, and service at ministry sites. These sites include elderly homes, food banks, local children’s camps, and more. We live together in the basement of a church in downtown D.C. a few blocks from the Capitol. Here’s a description of each of them & some random questions I asked them…
From the left: Reed, Brandon, Katie, Kiersten, Brooklyn, Me!
Brooklyn: The first word that comes to mind when I think of Brooklyn is caring. She is a very sweet teammate who listens well and isn’t afraid to laugh at herself. She is responsible with her tasks and I can’t wait to see what God has in store for her this summer!
Katie: She is so bubbly. I have learned that when Katie eats something delicious (which is pretty much anything because she isn’t picky) she does a little dance in her chair. It’s almost a subconscious dance. Also, Katie is the one in our group who keeps us safe and taken care of. She values caution but isn’t afraid to try new things. Oh yeah! She really loves dogs.
Reed: He has a big passion for ministry. He is assertive but still goes with the flow. I have learned that Reed’s silence is purposeful. He has a desire to have an open mind and not speak out his opinions left and right.
Kiersten: The first word that comes to mind when I think of Kiersten is JOY! She is full of it. Her laugh is contagious. She is carefree and desires to love others through quality time and words of affirmation.
Brandon: Brandon makes anyone and everyone laugh. He brings life to the party. He is the one we can all be sarcastic yet serious with. The serious Brandon tones things down and communicates his deep desire to know the word of God better.

If I gave you $20, what would you do with it?
“Coffee. Lots of coffee.” -Brooklyn
“If you gave it to me for the summer…I would find a mug from our favorite restaurant or coffee shop. And then with the leftover I would buy hot chocolate.” -Katie
“I’d go get pizza and ice cream.” -Reed
“I would probably buy food. Ice cream or coffee. Those are my number one priorities.” -Kierstin
“Spend $5 on a $5 fill up of chicken. $10 on gas. $5 on snacks…chips, candy, and stuff.” -Brandon
(Lol. I guess everyone was hungry when I asked that question because they all had food on their mind. Don’t worry. We get fed here.)
